"I originally had an sr500 and in order to have a somewhat even roast I used to put one hand under the roaster and the other on top and rotate several minutes to not burn the beans. Now with my SR540 and the extension tube I just turn on the machine and right away the beans are moving the way they should be, so I'm excited about roast a lot of coffee in this machine with the extension tube."

"Sam, Received the 540 extension tube and installed without issues. Love the improvement in both bean motion and roast/color. consistency. Would recommend that in the long term you integrate the tall chimney with the bean basket as the "standard" design. The only downside (for me!) in the modification was the mounting of a temp sensor vertically through the chaff basket. With the standard basket all I needed was to drill a 3/16" hole through the cap and drop the sensor through. Of course once I added the extension this was precluded! I 'kluged" a piece of 1/2" ID copper pipe with a "T" on the top to set depth and and cap with a hole on the bottom to set the sensor. Other than the joy of drilling a 3/4" hole through the top cap (complete with steel mesh and heat deflector (!) this did the job!. Have attached a couple of images for your info/amusement! Overall great performance and the coffee tastes great too! Bob"

"The extension tube has a different gasket than I have seen in all the videos, so the tube is not stable. Further, the chaff collector doesn't sit properly on top of the extension tube at all! To use it I have to hold it or it will fall off. So, it is practically speaking impossible to use. I am returning this thing."
